Clearfield Extends Network Design Flexibility With Addition of Yourx Versatile Terminal

MINNEAPOLIS – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) –Clearfield, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLFD), the specialist in fiber management for communications service providers, today announced an addition to its YOURx terminal product line. In line with Clearfield’s commitment to design flexible fiber termination and distribution systems, the new YOURx multipurpose terminal (MPT) is an Outdoor Installation Enclosure (OSP) that configures to meet the business objectives of any fiber and drop cable distribution network. Designed unlike any other terminal on the market, the YOURx MPT fits into any business model, giving the network designer the flexibility to balance the labor and capital expenses of profitable way.

Over the next five to seven years, Deloitte reports that the United States will need around $ 130 billion to $ 150 billion in fiber investments to support technologies such as 5G. Most new 5G small cell radio sites require duplex drop cables between the terminal and the radio equipment. The YOURx MPT’s bypass ports are large enough to accept two LC connectors through each port. Business class services are another common two-fiber application: one fiber for transmission and one for reception. Ideal for the distribution and drop-off portion of any fiber network, the YOURx MPT offers the options of deployment with optical components or mid-span capabilities, splicing into terminals or for consolidating termination locations if you are wish it. Network designers have the option of using MPT functionality to provide patch-and-splice or MPO connectors. Options for connectors, splices, and optical components support unlimited configurations. The choice of fiber connector is a distinct and additional advantage over traditional reinforced fiber optic connector (HFOC) terminals.

“Customers are looking for both mid-range solutions and terminals that support fiber delivery with standard connectors, low insertion loss, and a cost-effective method of deploying commercial and small cell services,” said Kevin Morgan, Director of Marketing, Clearfield. “By providing only the number of fibers needed and consolidating the termination / termination locations, you save both material and labor costs. ”

The YOURx MPT is cable independent, accepting any industrial cable up to 0.70 “in diameter, providing easy installation and a waterproof seal for placement below ground level, the same as a splice box. Designed to meet Telcordia GR-487 and GR-3125 specifications, the product can be installed on a strand, attached to a pole, attached to a wall or contained in a pedestal. adapter plate inside YOURx MPT can be configured to accept 8-SC, 16-LC or 8-MPO connectors with the ability to mix and match connectors within the same terminal, a valuable design feature network.

The YOURx terminal product line minimizes the amount of splicing performed in plant outdoor equipment and eliminates the need for splicing downstream of the closure as components including WDMs, splitters and cables derivation, arrive in the form of pre-assembled assemblies.

The main features of the product include:

  • Eight individual sealed dispensing ports with a snap-on splice chip, supporting 12 bulk tube splices or 36 mass fusion splices and the ability to store up to 8 ‘per buffer tube.

  • Entry point that uses a split sleeve eyelet design for easy installation.

  • The sliding bulkhead plate allows installers easy access to clean or test connectors.

The versatile YOURx terminal is available for immediate ordering. More information can be found on this subject video, in the partner Technical sheet, white paper or to
